And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works.
Hebrews 10:24
Corporate Worship
We meet weekly on Sunday mornings at 10:30 am and Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm. It is our desire that everyone in attendance senses the presence of God and encounters Him in worship and hearing the word declared.
Children
We have a loving nursery for infants through four years old. Workers are available one-half hour prior to services.
Our school age children (up through 12 years old) stay in the corporate service through the song service and announcements. They are then prayed for and dismissed to their class. We provide lessons to encourage growth in knowledge of who we are in Christ, memorizing scriptures, basic understanding of the Bible and its content and a fun time as well! We usually serve a snack of some kind and often have a craft or activity to support the lesson.
Men’s Ministry
We are a band of brothers dedicated to helping each other meet the challenges of being strong, bold, compassionate followers of Christ. We enjoy one another’s company and encourage each other as we passionately pursue Christ in worship, learning, and serving. We desire to be godly men of integrity - real men with real answers for the real problems of this world. We believe in having fun in the process!
Ladies
Our ladies are active throughout the ministry of the River of Life. We encourage participation in Bible Study and many other local women’s events for learning, serving and fun!
More Than Enough Food and Clothing Pantry
We have a pantry that distributes food weekly to qualified residents of Cherokee County. We are in partnership with the East Texas Food Bank and are supported through donations from the River of Life Christian Center and a few other area churches and individuals. We also have a free clothes closet for clients to draw from. We welcome donations of clothes and money at any time. We are excited about expanding our services in the near future to include basic computer skill training and cooking demonstrations designed to enhance use of available foods within our distribution. We are open each Thursday from 10:00 – 1:00 except the third Thursday which is our evening distribution from 4:00 to 6:30 pm.
Prayer
We have pre-service prayer on Sunday mornings from 9:30 to 10:15 and Wednesday nights from 5:30 to 6:30. Everyone is welcome! On the first Tuesday of each month we have Powerful Praise and Prayer from 5:00 to 7:00 to bombard the heavens with petitions, declarations, and worship! We focus on different aspects of the church, community, state and our nation. It is our responsibility to lift up our leaders in prayer for wisdom and guidance in their roles. We also pray for individual needs during this time. Feel free to call in your requests or text to one of the leaders and know that you will be prayed for!
Jail
We participate with the Ministerial Alliance of Rusk in providing services in our country jail located here in Rusk. We are in a rotation with other participating churches and consider it a joy to be able to carry the gospel to those in dire circumstances. We hold services for men and women.
Missions
As a church we regularly financially support missionaries. They currently are: The Baldwin’s in Kansas City MO who serve in prayer ministry, Hope City and are active in the fight against abortion. The Matthews in St. Joseph MO who serve the kingdom of God locally as well as through many works in Slovakia, Ireland and throughout Europe. Tim Tyler from Montrose CO who assists the Church on the western slope of Colorado, in Peru and Asia, the Loving’s who do aviation missions in Alaska, Thailand and Burma. Johm Samuel and Yoe DiGiralamo who minister in Mexico, and Fredi Quintanilla who oversees ATEK in Peru.
Benevolence
We also support benevolent work through the Rusk Ministerial Alliance, Tree of Promise and More Than Enough Food and Clothing Pantry.
