Inside or outside of the Rethink Tank, who you think you are will determine how—and what—you think. Can you be trusted to think freely, or must you be ultra-careful? How warped is your mind? How twisted is your heart? Is your heart deceitful above all else and wicked beyond cure? Believing this would cause anyone to be afraid to think. Claiming these words from Jeremiah for yourself is like eating strychnine soufflé—with arsenic truffles. That is not a description of you! You are a new creation with a new heart and a new spirit. As prophesied by Ezekiel, God has removed your heart of stone and given you a heart of flesh. Confusion about how to interpret Scripture through the lens of Jesus Christ gives us a warped view of ourselves—and makes us fear our own thinking. Non-religious folks have been spared the toxic tidbits and septic cuisine we have consumed in church, under the delusion they were curative or medicinal. The self you should be afraid to let think was crucified 2,000 years ago. Who you are now is free to co-think with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. You are one with the Truth now—and have no need to ever fear truth again. How does a person think who believes he has a mind created by God to explore the glory of creation? How do you think when your capacities are mentally enhanced by the Spirit of God? How does a fearless pursuer of God’s truest nature, fullest revelation, and most intimate presence think? Think on these things.
