Prayer Ministry:
River of Life
Ministry of prayer & Intercession
What is intecession? Intercession is praying on the behalf of others. It is having a sensitivity to hear the Holy Spirit within us to know how to pray and stand in the gap for others. Intercession is working with the Holy Spirit to bring about a divine change or breakthrough. Intercession is a product of love. When we trully are about people, our intercession will not be because it is the latest fad, or because it gives us a nametag. It will be because we love God and the people we are praying for. God is looking for "gap-standers" instead of "gap-finders". Prayer changes things! God will work with each person and help him or her to grow in their understanding of intecession as He uses them along the way. We learn prayer as we pray. Praying the Word (saying what God says and praying in the Spirit in tongues) helps us to pray the perfect prayer!
"I have set watchmen upon the walls, O (River of Life), which shall never hold their peace day nor night; ye that make mention of the Lord keep not silence, and give Him no rest till He establish and till He make (River of Life) a praise in the earth." (Isaiah 62:6, 7).
At River of Life we believe every believer is called to the ministry of intecession. In our personal relationship with the Lord we pray to Him that we might grow closer to Him and grow to be more like Him. But we also believe that prayer is a ministry where we as believers stand in the gap for one another and for the lost. God does not do anything without prayer. James 5:26 says "Confess your transpasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." This tells us there is great power in prayer. It is the power to overcome every circumstance and every obstacle. 2 Ch. 7:14 says "If my people who are called by My Name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land." This is a great promise from God concerning prayer. In this Scripture God is calling all of His people to pray and He promises, if we obey this Scripture, that He will hear us, forgive us, and heal our land. Hallelujah! This should motivate every believer to seek a life of prayer.
Everywhere it seems God is calling His people to a life of prayer once again, as if a revival of intecession was going on. People are getting a heart to pray like never before. I believe God will give us advanced revelation of evil situations through prayer. We will stop them with prayer before they happen. "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities;: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought; but the Spirit itself maketh intecession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered, and He that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because He maketh the intecession for the saint's according to the will of God" (Romans 8:26, 27). God wants to show us who and what to pray for through us to save lives and redeem situations. This requires unselfishness in those called to intercede. It is a background position that is not recognized often. It is a position that must be in submission to the Pastor and the assigned leadership of the Prayer Ministry. Unity of mind and heart is vital in every local church regarding prayer. Where there is unity, God commands His blessings, "Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity... for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore" (Psalms 133:1-3). The opposite is also true. "Where there is envy and strife, there is confusion and every evil work" (James 3:16).
The Holy Spirit moves through people in whom agape love prevails. Agape love is choosing to love "in spite of", I am convinced, through years of observation, that people who walk in love operate in one of the greatest of all spiritual weapons and the enemy hates it, because it stops him.
Our Vision is to have prayer/worship going up before the Lord 24/7, as incense going up before the Lord as a sweet smelling savor. To accomplish this goal we have several opportunities available for everyone who desires to be a part. They are listed below:
Sunday Morning Prayer: 9:30 am - 10:15am
Tuesday Prayer: 6:00pm - 8:30pm
Wednesday Prayer: 6:00pm - 6:45pm
Thursday Prayer: 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Friday Altar Ministry: 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Treasure Seekers: Treasure Seeker's are individuals who intercede in their homes daily and fast one day a week for the lost. These individuals are commited to seeing the lost saved and are willing to pray for particular individuals until the Holy Spirit releases them. These prayer warriors will receive the names of lost people from the Prayer Director.
Monthly Prayer Leader's Briefing: Monthly meetings with the Prayer leaders are held to communicate what God is saying to the Pastor's and to bring the church's specific needs to the leaders for prayer. These meetings also include times of teaching and ministry.
